sir,

I have been in the Goverment Service since

1902 when I accepted the position of Junior Assistant

Master in Queen's College. Now, in 1915, I am still an Assistant Master in Queen's College with practically no prospects and no hope of advancement. As my circumstances have greatly altered since 1902 and the cost of living in the East has enormously increased, I have the honour to

request that I may be transferred to one of the other Crown Colonies or (if kept in the Education Department)

to the Indian Education Department.

I am an honourman, senior moderator and gold medallist of Trinity College, Dublin was lecturer in

Biology at the Hongkong College of Medicine (no salary attached) 1903-1912; and am now (May 1915) lecturing

in Biology at the Eongkong University.

work and character in College from:- Prof. Joly, F. R. S

Prof. Haeren; Prof. Dixon D. S. C., F. R. S., Fr.f. Mac

Intosh; andothers, under whom I studied, I have a

limited colloquial knowledge of the two languages of
